Brags

Gloria's dogs, Sophie and Maggie, and Merrilee's dogs, Jake and Reilly enjoyed their day at the Oberlin Splashzone!

Henry, Robin's American Eskimo dog, won First Place in the "Best trick" contest at Grateful Dog Bakery's "Woofstock" celebration! Henry has a "trick" routine topped off with waving at the crowd!!! (a serious crowd-pleaser!!!)

Ilona and James went to their Field Spaniel National Specialty in July.... James showed very well in Conformation but was up against some stiff competition in Best of Breed ( he did make the first cut!) In Rally he really showed his stuff - the first day he qualified with an 84 out of 100! The second day he won second place with a 98!!! And all this at the National Specialty!!!

Karen and Max, her golden, have been busy lately....Max earned his UD title in July. (UD is the AKC Utility Dog title. Dogs compete in Utility classes - the most challenging obedience classes - which include scent discrimination, directed retrieves, and jumping and silent signal exercises. For a dog to earn the UD title he must receive qualifying scores from 3 different judges.)

With the UD completed, Max has also earned his VCD3 title!! (Versatile Companion Dog Titles (VCD) are awarded by the AKC for dogs who compete in obedience, agility and tracking. For each level of the VCD there are specific requirements.) For Max to receive his VCD3 title, he has a UD (Utility Dog in Obedience), two Excellent titles in Agility (Jumpers and Standard) and a TDX (Tracking Dog Excellent) title! WOW!!!!!

Speaking of Versatile Companion Dogs......Christy and Echo, her golden, earned their VCD2 with the completion of their Open titles (OA and OAJ) in agility (Standard and Jumpers). For the VCD2, a dog must have a CDX (Companion Dog Excellent title in Obedience), two Open agility titles and a TD (Tracking Dog) title!!! Another WOW!!

Echo and Christy have also just earned their Senior Hunter title along with one bonus leg!

It's been raining down Q's, double Q's and new titles in Agility, Rally and Tracking over the last few months for our Canine Sports dogs (and their humans!!!). Check it out.........

Margaret Hendershot and Desilu earned their Advanced Agility Dog title in USDAA in June. Congrats!!!!!

This is no small feat.....to earn an Agility Dog title in USDAA (at the Starter, Advanced or Masters level) the dog/handler team must get three qualifying runs in each of the following: Jumpers, Standard, Pairs Relay, Gamblers, and Snooker. So Margaret and Desilu clearly worked very hard in achieving this Advanced Agility Dog title!!

Gloria and Dreamer, her dachsund, have their first two legs in Novice agility - a standard and a jumpers leg!

Rhonda and Scout, her Australian cattle dog, double Q'd both Saturday and Sunday in August to complete both their Novice titles (NA and NAJ!!!!).

Leigh and Toby were also smoking with two double Q's!!!

At the 4H Pre-Fair Fun Show in early August, Nathan and his dog, Beauty, took first place (in a class of 12!) in the Beginners Obedience Class for the Leading Edge 4H Club!! Christy and Karen help the 4H kids with their obedience training at Canine Sports.

Canine Sports has two new Junior Herding Dogs........

Nell and Auby!!!!!

Both Border Collies successfully completed the two legs of the Junior Herding Dog test (Amercian Herding Breed Association - AHBA) for their title. It was snowy, windy and cold - the dogs loved it!! The two tests consisted of herding a small group of sheep (3) through three different gates and then into a pen at the end. The dog must exhibit control the whole time. Margaret with Nell had two incredibly beautiful and smooth runs. Laurie and Auby had to work a little harder on their second run - the sheep kept stopping!! Anyway both Margaret and Laurie are VERY proud of their Junior Herders - Miss Nell and Mr Auby!

  •      Debbie and Starr got their first Utility leg!!! First place with 182!! Starr was the only dog in 10 to qualify!!!

October was also a great month for agility.............

Debbie and Starr completed their Open Standard (OA) in AKC and moved up to Excellent A - where Starr promptly won her first Excellent A Standard run by almost 20 seconds under time!!!!

Annette and Katie moved up to Open Standard and Jumpers in AKC  after completing their Novice titles (NA, NAJ) - congrats!!!!

Gloria and Pumpkin were on a roll in October - they double Q'd (qualified) in Novice Jumpers and Novice Standard in one weekend to complete their Novice AKC titles (NA, NAJ). Pumpkin - you are smokin'!!!
